PM Narendra Modi launches week-long campaign `Gandagi Mukt Bharat` to make India free of garbage
Outlining cleanliness as an important measure in the fight against the Cornona pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a weeklong campaign — ‘Gandagi Mukt Bharat’ — from August 8 to 15 to free India of garbage.
Inaugurating the ‘Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra’ — an interactive experience centre on the Swachh Bharat Mission, at the Gandhi Smriti at Rajghat , Modi urged the younger generation to concentrate on the cleanliness in the country and adhere to social distancing norms in the pandemic times. After the inauguration of the Kendra, Prime Minister interacted with school children, stressing for the need of “swachhata” in life and streets.
After interacting with the children, the Prime Minister spoke about the journey of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and dedicated the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra (RSK) as a permanent tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He lauded the people of India for making swachhata a jan andolan and urged them to continue to do so in the future. Modi reiterated the importance of swachhata in our daily lives, especially during our fight against the coronavirus.
